Are You Dirty?

I know most of you ARE dirty, dirty minded at least or you wouldn’t be HERE.  Hey, it’s funny, it might be juvenile at times but it’s funny.  Anyway, as I get up at crack ass of dawn to get in my run before work, I catch myself in the mirror and NO I will NOT post a photo -

Hair sticking straight up from last nites slumber.

Hair not washed.

Teeth not brushed…and now drinking coffee.

Then, post coffee moment.

AND only then will I go out to get my morning run in…(solo, I DO brush my teeth for others) looking, feeling and smelling this way.

I have also been known to reuse a favorite pair of dirty tights on a cold day.  You know the one’s, the one’s ‘they’ tell you never to wear for fear of raging infection.  The one’s that are sitting at the bottom of the workout sweat pile that are good and ripe.  BUT they are your favorites and nothing else is clean…

So, I need to run, dirty pair of tights, stinky breath and all.  I figure it’s a way of keeping predators at bay.  There’s a little cloud around me, like Pig Pen from Peanuts.

Are you dirty?

Not in the least.

I will admit, I am biking tonight and none of my jerseys are washed and will be wearing my favorite out and it probably stinks.

i think all of us are dirty....my favorite is when you still DON't take a shower because you have another work out later on in the day.

hey?! that's how i run in the morning, dragon coffee breath and all...but only once in a while do i dig into the dirty pile to reuse a pair of tights or jersey. i've just never been brave enough to post that on my blog...yet!

Yeah, that pretty much describes me if I have to do something before work. Normally that's a swim. The teeth get brushed, and mostly I'm caught up on workout laundry. But the hair? wow!

This absolutely cracked me up. I am not particularly dirty but my husband (oh dear lord) is one of the filthier people I know. He is very tidy and neat, but he would re-wear the same pair of dirty socks every day if I didn't intervene. Running with him is like running in a sewer sometimes...so I can totally envision this Pigpen layer of filth. Hahahahaha.

I AM SO DIRTY!!!;-)

Ahahah, yes I am.

No point in washing outdoor shirts after I used them only once. And when it comes to the socks, I'm lazy too, well sometimes.

You crack me up. Your blog sounds like some of the daily conversations at my house. I noticed you are racing the Rev 3 in Knoxville. I'll try to find you and introduce myself. My family is (are?) big boxer fans too. We are currently on number 3.

guilty. but i do brush the teeth.
sports bras get worn over and over. and tights will over the winter...only exception is shorts in the summer. they don't get re-worn

Keep the predators at bay or attract them? LOL... I have no qualms about digging out old bike shorts and using them when I need to :-) Good thing I don't use any cream or anything!

i got the awkward moment when asked, "when was the last time you washed your cycling gloves?"

WHAT!? gloves?! I barely wash my jerseys!

I always tell my husband that I am pretty sure even the kidnappers would leave me in those situations. No one wants to mess with nasty breath, dirty hair, dirty everything else and stinky pants. Move on to the next victim rapist van...

Hell ya!

I have never washed my gloves. My wife has thrown away jerseys that smell even after bleach and well chamois cream is anti bacterial right?

I caught myself being the stinky one at the gym recently. That was kinda embarrassing, but once everyone else was sweating it out at spinning, it didn't matter!

yep yep. but i don't use old sweaty clothes. that would make me gag. i would use a pair of cycling shorts that had been on a short ride maybe. :)

there is a female motorcross apparel company called "dirty girls". i have a t-shit by them that says "Got a dirty girl?" and then on the back it says "GET ONE". you need one too.

Um, yeah... I have been known to wear my favorite sports bra after a few runs - but I get totally sketched out at the though of re-using shorts. Ew.

Oh - but I totally reuse socks - all the time. They are pretty gross...

I am so dirty. Even better, I often walk my kids to school like that before I go running. Yeah, I'm that mom...

Oh man, you really don't even want to know! But yes is the answer.

Sometimes I'll drag a dirty/sweaty shirt out of the pile of clothes b/c it's my favorite one to run in and I want to wear it again. Sometimes at night I'll do a long trainer ride and won't take a shower b/c I know I'll be swimming in the morning. So, yay, I'm pretty dirty! :)

Yes. LMAO!

Ha ha. Classic. Now I don't feel as bad about just grabbing the closest pair of shorts regardless of their condition. It's all relative right?

Girl - I am so dirty. Really. Sometimes Jason looks at me and says 'Chloe, did you wash your hair after your run 12 hours ago?'
Me: 'Nope, no time to dry, so I put it up in this lovely knot. That if you get to close, yes, you smell sweat'

And I agree with Heidi - why shower if you have another workout? :)
Love it.

Wow -- after reading all the comments I might be very weird or maybe OCD about clean workout clothes. After every workout I toss the clothes in the washer - I usually wait until I have two or three sets of workout clothes and then wash them. My wife makes fun of me. I thought this was normal, apparently it is not (-:

Helz yeah. Especially if whatever I need has a run with less than 10 miles, it's fair game.

Besides, I don't want to be bothered while I run, so no use sprucing up.

Hate having to brush my teeth & wipe the sleep outta my eyes before 5am spin.

hahahahahahaha

Oh yeah.

I do have to brush my teeth before a run, but that's not for others, it's for me. I feel like I run better if my teeth are brushed. Is that weird?

I still haven't washed my hair after this morning's run because I knew I wasn't going anywhere interesting tonight and I'm going to run again in the morning, and I'll wash it then...

kristen said...

I brush the teeth, but I totally recycle my favorite articles of clothing if necessary - even sports bras. I don't give a shit.

I have to echo Heidi's comment...I think we probably all do some of this stuff! And yep, there are days when I don't shower b/c workout #2 is yet to come (ewww).
