Geaux Saints!

A killer ending to a great week! Yay for NOLA, I'm very happy for them. While I love Peyton, he's amazing and a UT grad, it was the Saints turn. What a great game. Now, what to do with all my free time on Sunday's?!?!

All workouts in the bank, 6000 swim, 100 mi bike, 20 mi run and two strength. This MAY be the ugliest week in a long time, however. It was just the kind where you should just leave your watch or Garmin at home because you KNOW it's going to be a ugly. Mile repeats at the track...solo, SUCK IT! I could not find any speed. I didn't crumble at the end and held the pace, it was just a sucky pace, that's all. Indoor computrainer group ride 2.5 hours, uh, legs on fir-AH from the days previous sucktackular 11 mile run. I had to wear a full Gortex wind/rain suit on that run. 15-20mph winds with 35 mph gusts, yep, felt awesome when you turned right into it...uphill. I had Dermatone all over my face, thank gawd.
Stuff rocks - and NO they did not GIVE this to me to review. It is my unbiased opinion. Sonofabitch. Back to that indoor computrainer ride, yes, it really was like riding in hummus, as a friend so eloquently put it. I never found IT, never found any kind of rhythm or groove.

I would like to blame the usual scapegoat my cycle, yes, ladies and gents, my period. At the cool age of 37, one would think this is not a factor or just something that is easily managed. Really, cramps?!? I'm thirty effen seven years old and I have cramps. C'mon, give this shit to some young pup that hasn't paid their dues. 25 years of this proverbial mess and it is still a factor. When all I wanted was the sofa, a hot pad and my mom to make me hot chocolate and tell me I didn't have to go to school - I ran, I rode, I did all that shit that was on my schedule. Albeit a little angry about it (can you tell), but it's done. This week is certain to be better on the workout front. If my legs ever come back. Even though, I didn't have the speed, the effort was there...my hamstrings tell me it is so!

Great workout week, and good on you for heading out in the wind. Some days you have it, and some days you don't. My run was doing good fora while, and just the last week or so it and the bike have been tough sledding. I console myself that the swim is going well.

Only 37. So young.

I was wearing my "who dat" shirt while putting $25 on the Colts (mind over heart). So when I lost, I was OK with it.
I wish I had your Gore Tex yesterday, but I sure learned my lesson, fo sho..
My periods ended around 46 (just to let you know how long you have to wait)

thanks for the tip on the windchaffing cream. My face gets it even when running.

2.5 hrs on the computrainer. That's badass. I never would have lasted that long.

I hear ya on the periods. Why are they getting worse the older I get. WTF?!

Who Dat!

That's some heavy duty training, but 2.5 hours on the trainer is torture! You're ready for anything :-)

Your workouts sounded tortuous on all counts. WTG on getting them done!

Effing Mother Nature and her monthly 'gift'. Not only are we training our asses off but we do it with a hemmoraging uterus! That is why women are so damn tough :)

i didn't watch the game (don't have cable) but i did cheer for the saints, if only because new orleans seems like a much cooler place than indy, haha.

oh, and yes, i actually do know what happens in football...i just don't watch it so don't really have a team. well, minnesota used to be my team, but that's because they wore purple. :D

Damn, girl - that's quite a week.

If I was your uterus, I'd be spazzing out too with all that!

Hey, sometimes we need a scapegoat and that one is generally a pretty good one. Congrats on the week even if it was a toughie!

One of my friends said we should get extra points (or time taken off of race times) when we're on our periods---it's a level of training/racing no man will ever have to go through!

Great workouts---2.5 hours on the training, oh boy. I did a 90 minute spin class and I seriously need to figure out a way to not chaff--you know where---OUCH.

A few weeks away from 48 and still bleeding like a pig! Yup, it never gets easy! Aunt Flo is such a bitch, no matter what the age!

Nice workouts-love the face shit, I never knew of this stuff. My cheeks (facial, not gluteus maximus) are so dry and chaffed from running in the cold!

Carly said...

Nice job!

Thanks the tip on the Dermatone. That is one of my biggest complaints about being in the cold is the chapped face. I will have to try it.

sucktackular - Oh my.

I know what you're talking about, I'm having these damn cramps right now. On top of that I'm bored to death right now in class. ugh.

Yeah to you for sticking to your schedule.

Solo mile repeats, 11 mi run in crazy wind & rain, and a Computrainer ride to boot? Way to get things done!

(And FWIW, I still get cramps at 48 -- gawd!!!)
